Judge Barbara Salesch is a pseudo-documentary court show by the broadcaster Sat.1.

Bettina Hinrichs, who owns a flower shop, has been nominated to act as Schöffin (a german version of jury member) at court. Robert Wrengler is accused to have murdered his wife with a letter bomb. Bettina Hinrichs has mixed feelings about her duty: How can she decide who is telling the truth? Should she believe the tears of the bereft widower or the accusations of his brother-in-law? Her life is turned upside down even more when she finds out that a detective is following her and her daughter, uttering threats in case she makes the wrong decision. And what about Peter, the nice guy she met by accident right after the trial started - is he really on her side? Weighed down by doubt, she finds Wrengler guilty - but that's not the end of it all.

Barbara is a young girl who makes the painful discovery that she is just like everyone else. Her one dominant desire is to “be somebody”, but she really doesn’t know how this can be done. She tries to be “a leader”, but becomes dissatisfied with that and then tries to separate herself from the crowd – but soon "the crowd" attempts to be more like her. Sage advice from her uncle – that she is already “somebody” – satisfies Barbara to be herself.

She took her two children with her to California to meet a stranger, a man who would soon become her husband and father to her children. This project is an immersive form of visual storytelling that employs memory and performance in equal measure to show the journey of immigrating to America.
